The “Big Green Heart” Tour

When it comes to understanding the impact that Lyme Disease has on the lives of individuals and families, there’s no better source of reference than going straight to the proverbial horse’s mouth. That’s why in October of 2014, we launched “The Big Green Heart Tour” – a campaign to bring awareness to the eight hundred and twenty-two people diagnosed with Lyme Disease every single day.

In thirty days we traveled over 10,000 miles and interviewed more than seventy Lyme Fighters in over twenty states. And that was just our first trip! We hope to do many more. In fact, our goal is to show people the impact that one single day has on the lives of eight hundred and twenty-two people, which is why we’re going to keep planning trips until we’ve met and interviewed eight hundred and twenty-two Lyme Fighters.

Check out the gallery below to learn about the Lyme Fighters we’ve met so far (more pictures coming soon!)and subscribe to our YouTube channel to be the first to know when we’ve started posting the interviews (coming May 2015).

October 12, 2014: There aren't enough words for the feels these two gave us today in Corvallis, OR. Talk about amazing human beings. An inspiration in every way! Alene has been fighting #Lyme for over 20 years and still remains such a beautiful and optimistic soul. A former RN, she is a fountain of knowledge and together with her husband of 47 years, she's the facilitator for the Mid Valley Lyme Support Group where she counsels novice and veteran Lymies alike. Ever the devoted husband, Glen does whatever necessary to help his wife on her journey and jokes about the many unexpected changes he has found himself embracing in support of her relentless fight to beat Lyme - such as adopting a raw foods diet for a year - and how much happier he is for making them. At 67, these two are brimming with life and Alene looks forward to beating Lyme so that the two of them can get back to their former ballroom dancing days. We had such a wonderful time with Glen and Alene and we can't thank them enough for the kindness and hospitality they showed us. Truly a lovely night. We can't wait to see these two again!
